Russia swept all titles, European Juniors Synchronised Championships

Russia clinched four titles and Ukraine grabbed all silver medals in Rijeka, at the European Junior Synchronised Swimming Championships.

Business as usual: the Russian team is as strong at junior level as among the seniors. The ruling nation’s representatives swept all titles in Rijeka at the junior Europeans. Veronika Kalinina might be the next shining star in the coming years, she amassed three gold medals last week, finishing atop in solo, duet and was also part of the title-winning team.

Ukraine’s Yelyzaveta Yakhno enjoyed a great event, too, as she collected four silver medals (she also performed in the free combination). Ukraine came runner-up in all four events, while Spain got three bronzes and Greece managed to capture the third place in the duet event. This latter competition provided an exciting race for the bronze with three duets finishing inside 1.2 points but at the end the Greek bettered the Spaniards and the Italians.
