The LEN Family has learned with immense sadness that our Honorary Member Marie Cermakova has passed away. Aged 90 when leaving us, Ms Cermakova had a wonderful life to recall and she gave so much for aquatics, especially for diving.
She worked as a teacher from 1953 till 1976 at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic and as a diving coach and Czech Federation official from 1953 till 2010. She was coaching many divers, though Milena Duchkova stood above all by clinching the Olympic title in the 10m platform in Mexico City 1968 and adding a silver four years later in Munich.
Ms Cermakova was LEN Technical Diving Committee member from 1971 till 2003 and officiated as a FINA judge at several Olympic Games. She has become LEN Honorary Member in 2004.
In these moments of grieving, the LEN Family offers its deepest condolences for her family and for the Czech aquatic community.
